During the summer holiday I read the book named "The Prince and the Pauper" by Mark Twain. It is a historical adventure story set in 16th-century England. The book tells us about two boys, Prince Edward and a poor boy named Tom Canty, who look exactly like each other and decide to switch places. I really enjoyed reading this story. It was interesting to learn about the history of England and how hard life was for poor people in those days. I think the kindest character is Tom because he remained nice and helpful even in difficult situations. On the other hand, I didn't like Tom's father at all because he was cruel and violent; I think he is the worst character in the book. Both boys were in unusual situations. I think Edward suffered more because he was treated like a criminal on the streets, but Tom overcame the difficulties he was brave. The story has a happy end because Edward returns to the throne and becomes a just king. I think this is a wonderful book. It teaches us that we shouldn't judge people by their clothes and that kindness is very important. I would recommend it to my classmates.
